Imagine it’s your birthday. You’ve just finished a long day at work and received a couple of cards and phone calls with well wishes from friends and family. As you settle in at home the doorbell rings. When you open the door you’re greeted by a smiling delivery man with a beautiful cellophaned package with a big gold bow. “Happy Birthday” he exclaims as he heads down the driveway. It’s almost too lovely to open. Who could have sent you this? The questions race as you look for the gift card. In a moment you know who the thoughtful person was who sent you this beautiful surprise. You know their loving words as expressed on a happy birthday card. As you carefully look at what has just been delivered to you, you realize that you can enjoy it right now. There’s no preparation or directions to follow. You’ve been sent joy, love and most of all a nice surprise. Something we all need once and awhile. Now wouldn’t you like to be the person who received this gift, or even better, wouldn’t you like to be the one that gets the phone call of thank you as the person who sent it?
Now whether it’s a birthday, anniversary,Christmas present, get well wish or just something to brighten their day, these gifts are always welcome.
I’ve spent over 12 years in the gifting industry and would like to share with you my top 10 deliverable gifts.
#1. Gift Baskets… There are literally thousands of styles of gift baskets available today in a vast array of themes. Choose pamper, chocolate or gourmet styles for women. Men can also enjoy the surprise of a gift basket with golf, sports and even wooden truck containers. Pretzels, cashews, and even power drinks can be included in their delightful gift. Gift baskets are also a terrific thank you for a business. Grab and go shareable items are the best way to go with a group so look for these products within the basket.
#2. Fruit Baskets… While we’re on the subject of baskets, a fruit basket makes a great gift for older people, folks who are ill or your friends and family who are on a healthy diet. They may or may not be available at a gift basket store but you may find them at a local grocery store or through a florist. Try not to have the designer include bananas though, as they tend to ripen early and taint the appearance of the gift.
#3. Fruit Bouquets… Along the same lines as a fruit basket are these new fruit bouquets. They are usually found at a specialty store that just sells this one type of item. They include beautiful flower-like arrangements made out of apples, pineapples, cherries and other fruits. they also feature chocolate covered strawberries and are a delicious gift for women, men and also a big hit with office staff.
#4. Chocolate… Dark Chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate, caramel chocolate, the list goes on and on. In a delicate box or in a specialty container you really can’t go wrong with a selection of chocolate. If you need any more reasons, many health advisors have suggested that dark chocolate is actually good for you. This I know has been a welcome relief for women such as myself.
#5. Flowers… Although it’s an old standby, a beautiful bouquet that arrives at the door and fills the home with a wonderful fragrant aroma is a terrific way to send love. There are so many themed flower arrangements for birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy, get well and even for the new baby. It’s also the perfect little pick-me-up to someone to brighten their day.
#6. Plants in a Planter… Most florists have arrangements of plants in ceramic, glass containers or wicker baskets. They’re especially nice as a thinking of you, sympathy or get well sentiment.
#7. Gourmet Cookies… A great gift for teenagers, and folks young and old. Great as housewarmer, a birthday present for your kid in college or a thank you to your office staff. They’re not just available in chocolate chip anymore. Choose from a vast array of flavors and container sizes.
#8. Retro and other Candy… You can drift back down memory lane with retro candy from specialty stores that you can find online or in most major cities. They usually even have the candy sorted into decades so you can choose the sweet gift based on when they were born.
#9. Popcorn… This new trend in deliverable gifts is very popular right now. Forget about the boring buttered popcorn. You can choose from dozens of great flavors for every taste. Popcorn containers are also available in birthday, love, sports and other themes. Most stores are available online and they’re very reasonably priced.
#10. Trays or Towers…finally we have trays and towers that are usually supplied by gift basket companies. These gifts are filled with cookies, pretzels, candy, chocolate, cashews and many other gourmet goodies. The towers are usually stackable boxes with the treats neatly tucked inside. Terrific for groups or families, there’s something for everyone.
So there you have it. Keep this list handy for the next time you’re in a gift giving dilemma. It will probably take you less than fifteen minutes if you order online and that includes the wording on the gift card. You’ll do something nice for someone and with that gesture I hope one day you’re on the receiving end of one of these surprisingly wonderful gifts.
